What About ClixSense? Scam or Legit? My Honest Review

Welcome to my ClixSense review. So, I recently reviewed Neobux as a way to earn money by clicking ads, but what about ClixSense? Is it any better or is it just as much of a waste of your time? Is it a scam? Well, it certainly has more ways you can earn money than just clicking on ads, although that is part of it. Anyway, let’s take a closer look…

What is ClixSense?

ClixSense is a website that anyone can join to earn extra money doing simple tasks. The different ways of earning money are:

• Viewing ads – you just click on an ad and view it for a set minimum length of time, then your account gets credited with the amount. Ads that earn more money have a longer viewing time. If you have a website of your own that you would like to advertise, you can do that through your ClixSense account too.
• ClixGrid – you click one of the grid squares on the image, and this take you through to an advert. You then have a chance of winning up to $10.
• Tasks – these are micro jobs that you get paid for doing.
• Offers – these vary a lot and can be anything from signing up to a website to installing an app.
• Surveys – get paid for helping companies with their market research by providing answers to surveys.
• Referring new members – if you refer a new member and they use the ClixSense site to view ads, take part in surveys, etc., you can receive money. If they upgrade to a Premium account you earn even more money.

Is ClixSense worth it?

Here I am going to run through each of the different aspects of ClixSense and say what I think about each of them.

Ads

Here is a screenshot of some of the ads:

Clicking the ads and viewing them is very easy, but I am concerned about whether they are actually worth clicking. For example:

• 5 second ads (“Sticky Ads”) earn you $0.001 (0.1c).
• 15 second ads (“Regular Ads”) earn you $0.005 (0.5c).
• 3-second ads (“Micro Ads”) earn you $0.001 (0.1c), but there aren’t many of these.

Let’s do some calculations…

You can view a maximum of 4 Regular Ads per minute.

4 x $0.005 = $0.02 per minute.
60 x $0.02 = $1.20 per hour.
8 x $1.20 = $9.60 per standard 8-hour working day.

It doesn’t really seem worth it, does it?

ClixGrid

All you do here is you click on any of the grid squares. You then get taken to an advert which you have to view for 10 seconds. You don’t actually earn money every time you click. Instead, you have a chance of winning up to $10. It’s a kind of lottery really. You are allowed up to 30 clicks per day. I don’t know what the chances are of winning, but I suspect it’s not really worth it.

Tasks

The only task available to me is one offering me just $0.02 to “Please Transcribe The Audio”. This hardly seems worth it, and I’m not going to try to do it because they want me to sign in with Facebook to do it. Hey, guess what? I’m one of the minorities who hates Facebook, so I don’t even have a Facebook account to sign in with. I’m certainly not going to sign up with FB again just to earn $0.02!

Offers

Here are some of the offers currently available to me:

• $0.20 to sign up to a website called the “ShoeMoney Network”.
• $2.00 to register with a website called the “Nielsen Online Panel” and also install their software and keep it for a minimum of 35 days.
• $0.01 per day to listen to a particular radio station.
• $0.67 to sign up to win an Xbox 360 Kinect.

The thing is, I don’t want to sign up for lots of different websites because it will probably involve giving them my contact details. I’ve done that before with other offer sites and ended up getting loads of annoying cold calls to my phone. I also don’t want to clog up my computer with unnecessary software, listen to a radio station I wouldn’t normally listen to, or try to win an Xbox. I probably wouldn’t win anyway, and it would involve giving my personal details again. Also, I don’t play games anyway.

Surveys

The surveys vary a lot in terms of how much you get paid and how long the survey is likely to take, as you can see in the following screenshot:

The problem is, I tried doing several of the surveys, but ended up being told I wasn’t eligible because I didn’t meet the criteria. This is even though I filled in my survey profile on ClixSense which should make sure I only get presented with surveys I am eligible for. So they wasted my time, and this is the same problem I have had previously with other survey sites. You have to first answer questions to see if you are eligible, and often you are not eligible, so you waste a lot of time trying to find surveys you can actually do!

Browser plugin

I installed the browser plugin but quickly removed it because it kept popping up and distracting me when I was trying to get on with other things. The ClixSense introduction video says you can earn extra money just by having the browser plugin installed, but I really doubt it is worth the annoyance of being frequently distracted like that.

Referring new members

If you refer new members, you can earn extra money each time they do things on ClixSense, for example:

• $0.002 (0.2c) each time they click on a Standard Ad.
• $1 if they upgrade to a Premium ClixSense account.
• 5% each time they complete a survey or complete a task.

Now, this is not much, and you would need a LOT of referrals to really start earning anything even close to a decent amount of money.

Let’s do some more calculations…

If you have 100 referrals, and each of them clicked on 10 ads per day:

100 x $0.002 = $0.20
$0.20 x 10 = $2

Only $2!

I also just saw this…

At the bottom of the front page of the website is this ever-increasing set of numbers:

 

So, they have paid 6,405,639 members $19,307,098.53. Now, it doesn’t take a genius to do a quick calculation and discover that it doesn’t work out as much per member.

4,405,639 members
=
$3.014 per member.

So, they are hoping that the large numbers will impress you, but the reality is that since February 2007 they have only paid on average $3.014 to each member.

This is bullshit, it really is!

Is ClixSense a scam?

Well, no, it’s not a scam as such. It’s free to join, so you don’t have to waste any money. However, I really don’t think it’s a good use of your time. You may not lose money doing ClixSense, but you will sure waste your time trying to EARN money. A lot of people will join ClixSense feeling excited that at last they can earn money just doing simple things on their computer…then their heart will sink as they realize that most of the things they do on ClixSense earn them less than 1 cent.
